Menus (Full Color)
Vibrant, Durable Menus for Your Business
The menu is the most heavily scrutinized marketing asset your business possesses. It is the definitive guide that directly influences your customer's purchasing decisions. Whether you run a bustling cafe, a fine dining establishment, or an upscale salon, a professionally printed, full-color menu establishes trust, appetite appeal, and brand legitimacy from the moment it is handed over.
Ideal for Restaurants, Spas, and Services
Our custom menus are designed to withstand heavy handling while keeping your imagery sharp and your text perfectly legible:
- Dine-In Restaurants: Utilize our premium 11" x 17" size for expansive, easy-to-read table menus that can be wiped clean between services.
- Takeout & Delivery: A classic 8.5" x 11" Tri-Fold menu is the undisputed standard for sliding into takeout bags or mailing directly to local neighborhoods.
- Salons & Spas: Present your tiered service packages and pricing in an elegant, glossy Half-Fold menu that clients can easily take home or share with friends.
- Catering & Food Trucks: Distribute flat, single-sheet menus at local events or food festivals for quick, high-volume marketing.
Premium Paper Stock Choices
We offer two distinct paper options tailored to the specific environment your menus will live in:
- 100 lb. Gloss Cover: A heavy, premium cardstock. The glossy finish acts as a protective sealant that makes food photography incredibly vibrant while offering mild resistance to fingerprints and light moisture. Ideal for high-end takeout menus and spa service lists.
- Synthetic Waterproof: For busy bars, outdoor patios, and high-turnover family restaurants, standard paper simply will not survive. Our synthetic stock is entirely tear-proof and waterproof. It can be wiped down repeatedly with damp cloths and sanitizing sprays without the ink running or the edges fraying.
Understanding Our Fold Types
The way your menu opens dictates how the customer consumes your offerings:
- Flat (No Fold): A single, rigid sheet perfect for inserting into leather menu covers, placing on clipboards, or using as disposable placemats.
- Half-Fold: A single sheet folded perfectly down the middle to create four distinct panels (a front cover, a back cover, and a large two-page interior spread). Ideal for elegant, multi-course dining presentations.
- Tri-Fold (Letter Fold): A single sheet folded twice to create six tall, narrow panels. The ultimate format for takeaways, mailing, and stuffing into standard business envelopes.
Mastering Menu Layout and File Setup
Designing a menu—especially one that will be mechanically folded—requires meticulous attention to margins, bleed lines, and panel alignment. Please adhere strictly to the following prep-press guidelines to ensure your food photography and pricing look flawless.
The Tri-Fold Panel Sizing Rule (Crucial)
The most common mistake when designing a Tri-Fold takeout menu is assuming all three panels are the exact same width. They are not. In a Tri-Fold (Letter Fold), the panel that folds into the inside must be slightly narrower than the outer two panels. If it is not narrower, the paper will buckle, bow, and fail to lay flat when closed.
- For a standard 8.5" x 11" Tri-Fold, the flat document should be divided roughly as follows: The outer two panels (Cover and Back) should be approximately 3.6875" wide, and the inner-folding panel should be approximately 3.625" wide.
- Tip: Always print a test copy on your home printer and fold it by hand to verify that your pricing and descriptions do not cross over the fold creases before submitting your files to us.
Bleeds and Safe Zones
To achieve an edge-to-edge (full bleed) look where the background color or imagery runs perfectly off the edges of the menu:
- The Bleed Area (0.125"): Extend your background graphics 0.125 inches past the final cut line on all four sides of your digital canvas.
- The Safe Zone (0.25"): Keep all critical text, pricing, and logos at least 0.25 inches inside the final cut line, and at least 0.125 inches away from all fold creases. This ensures nothing important is accidentally trimmed off during the guillotine cutting process.
Color Space and Food Photography Resolution
Subpar imagery will actively hurt a restaurant's sales. To ensure your food photography looks appetizing and accurate:
- Always design in the CMYK color space. Submitting RGB files will result in a forced color conversion on our presses, which often causes vibrant food colors to appear dull, muddy, or unappetizing.
- Ensure all embedded images and photographs are saved at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch). Images pulled directly from social media are typically 72 DPI and will print horribly pixelated.
File Submission
We require all menu designs to be uploaded as flattened, print-ready PDF files. Please submit a single file containing both sides of your menu. Before saving your PDF, please ensure all fonts are outlined or embedded.
Turnaround & Delivery Logistics
The Production Schedule
Due to the mechanical folding process and the curing required for heavy ink coverage (common in food photography), custom menus require specialized finishing. If the sheets are sent through the automated folding machines while the ink is still slightly wet, the rich colors will crack and flake along the creases. Because we prioritize a flawless finish, standard production time for flat menus is 1-2 business days, while folded menus typically require 1-3 business days following your artwork approval.
Local DFW Pickup for Immediate Distribution
If you are a local Dallas/Fort Worth restaurant rushing to launch a new seasonal menu before the weekend dinner rush, bypass shipping transit times entirely by utilizing our Local Pickup service. Once your menus are printed, folded, and boxed, you will receive an immediate automated notification. You can collect your boxes directly from the Xpress Shipping and Printing center located at 909 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Ste 210, Plano, TX 75023.
Secure Bulk Shipping
If you require delivery, we ensure your marketing materials arrive in perfect condition. Batches of folded takeout menus are tightly shrink-wrapped in small bricks to lock out moisture and prevent the folded edges from snagging and tearing on each other during transit. These bricks are then nested inside heavy-duty corrugated boxes. We ship via authorized national carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS) to provide reliable tracking straight to your restaurant's loading dock or corporate office.
Emergency Rush Processing
Did you just discover a massive typo on your pricing list, and you open for grand opening tomorrow? We understand the chaotic nature of the hospitality industry. If you have an impending deadline, please call our service hotline directly at 214-440-2130 before placing your order online. Depending on our daily print and bindery capacity, we can frequently accommodate same-day or next-day rush processing to get your menus to the table faster.
