What is RGB? (Digital Displays)

RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue. This color mode is used by anything that emits light—like your computer monitor, smartphone, or TV. RGB creates colors by adding light together, which allows for highly vibrant, neon-like colors that simply cannot be replicated with physical ink.

What is CMYK? (Physical Print)

CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). This is the color mode used by professional printers. Instead of adding light, CMYK subtracts light by layering physical inks on a white piece of paper. Because physical ink cannot reproduce the backlit brightness of a screen, CMYK colors naturally look a bit more muted.
